Raphaël Julliard est né en 1979, il est diplà´mé de l'écal et de l'Ecole Supérieure des Beaux- Arts de Genève. Raphaël Julliard vit et travaille à Genève.
Après une participation très remarquée à la FIAC en 2005 avec la galerie Art & Public où l'artiste présentait 1000 tableaux chinois, Raphaël Julliard présente ici sa première exposition personnelle à Paris.
Disons de Raphaël Julliard qu'il est un constructeur de schèmes. La recherche d'une structure intermédiaire entre la force de l'évolution et la réalisation étant en effet constitutive de son travail. L'artiste sait profiter à loisir du fait que ce processus de construction ne soit pas figé et bel et bien adaptable. Riche de cette liberté, le processus créatif de Raphà¤el Julliard peut alors passer par la contrainte de la déconstruction.
L'artiste assemble, combine, inverse, pour arriver à une distorsion du réel l'amenant à une nouvelle réalité. Animé par ce désir de comprendre ce qui l'entoure et afin de pouvoir en restituer sa compréhension, Raphaël Julliard bouleverse les mots, les idées et les techniques, et prend des détours pour mieux arriver au but.
Il s'agit pour lui de changer de sens, autant en terme de directions qu'en terme de significations. Ceci explique que les œuvres de Raphaël Julliard soient souvent surprenantes car fréquemment empreintes de différences formelles conséquentes. L'artiste s'attarde en premier lieu sur la perception de ressemblances apparentes pour mettre en évidences que ces dernières mènent finalement à des différences.
Les œuvres présentées dans l'exposition sont liées par le geste qu'implique le trait, le mouvement sur le support et dans l'espace. Toutes reposent sur l'expérience au sens scientifique et empirique du terme et sur une certaine dualité entre le projet initial, la technique utilisée et l'aspect final.

Raphaël Julliard was born in 1979, he graduated from ECAL and the Fine Arts School of Geneva. Raphaël Julliard is now living and working in Geneva.
After a highly remarquable participation at the FIAC in 2005 with the Art & Public gallery, where Raphaël Julliard presented 1000 Chinese paintings, he is presenting here his first solo show in Paris.
About Raphaël Julliard we can say that he is a constructor of schemes. The research of an intermediate structure between evolutionary force and realisation is indeed fundamental for his work. The artist knows how to benefit from the fact that this construction process is not fixed, but truely adaptable. Benefitting from this liberty, Raphaël Julliard's creative process can then go through the constrain of deconstruction.
The artist assembles, combines, inverts, in order to reach a distorsion of reality leading him to a new reality. Motivated by the desire to understand his surroundings and in order to restore his comprehension, Raphaëlle Julliard turns upside-down words, ideas and techniques, and takes detours in order to better achieve his goal.
His aim is to change sense as it is understood by the French word « sens » which siginifies change of direction, as well as, change of meaning. This explains that Raphaël Julliard's works are often surprising as they are frequently composed by consequent formel differences. The artist at first deals with the perception of obvious resemblances in order to highlight that these resemblances finally lead to differences.
The works shown in the exhibition are connected through the gesture of the line, the mouvement on the paper and in space. They are all based on experience, in the scientifical and in the empirical sense of the word, and on a certain duality between the initial project, the technique used and its final aspect.
